What is Life Coaching?
Coaching as a behaviour rather than a term can be traced back as far as the Ancient Greeks when Socrates used self-reflective questioning with his students, which is now referred to as the Socratic Method.
Life Coaching is a way of exploring a person’s reality by asking good open questions and using tools and techniques to understand their values and beliefs. The use of these tools and techniques also allows the coach to understand how a person thinks, feels and behaves, whilst also discovering what that person’s skills, knowledge and experiences are in relation to the things that are important to them. This process enables the coachee to make the changes necessary to achieve the things they want for themselves.
I would like you to be reassured that anything we discuss in these sessions will be treated with total discretion, confidentially and respect. No judgement or advice will be given in these sessions, just guidance in you finding the answers you are looking for.
What is NLP?
Neuro Linguistic Programming is a way of understanding how the mind works and recognising how we experience the world through our five senses. By noticing how people do things and then replicating this is an excellent way of modelling. It also creates easy methods for having better responses to situations. By identifying what is not working and changing it enables the coachee to change what they see, hear and feel. Then ultimately how they respond, how they look at the world and how they communicate.
